Day 1: Auckland Arrival (Private sailing charter/dinner cruise in Auckland harbour)
You will be met on arrival at Auckland International Airport by your Aroha NZ Tours Representative and transferred to your accommodation in our luxurious vehicle.
You will spend the day in the Inner City and near the America’s Cup Village. At late afternoon we have organised a private charter vessel to take you for a cruise in the
Auckland harbour and the Hauraki Gulf. The classic gentleman’s luxury 47 foot launch gives you a chance to experience the “City of Sails” first hand. Watch the fairy-tale lights of Auckland City passing by while dining and cruising the Auckland Harbour. If you are still not tired then, visit the nearby Viaduct Basin and its many lively bars. Day 2: Auckland – Domestic Flight-Bay of Islands/Northland
Private Pick up from your inner city hotel to the domestic Airport in Auckland where you will board a domestic flight to Keri Keri in the Bay of Islands. A taxi will await you and transfer you to your Luxury Lodge accommodation. The Bay of Islands/Northland is a world-renowned holiday destination for deep sea and big game fishing, as well as sailing and cruising throughout the many picture-perfect islands, bays and coves. It is also known for its dolphin and whale watching, its secluded beaches, lush native bush walks, and historic attractions. It epitomises clean, green New Zealand. For the more adventurous, sea kayaking, water skiing, scuba diving and snorkelling are all available. Day 3: Bay of Island/Northland – ½ Day Trip to Cape Reinga (Helicopter flight and local guide)
Private Pick up from your inner city hotel to the domestic Airport in Auckland where you will board a domestic flight to Keri Keri in the Bay of Islands. A taxi will await you and transfer you to your Luxury Lodge accommodation. We have arranged a private helicopter flight and ½ day tour to Cape Reinga. The initial flight will depart the Paihia waterfront up to the Cape Reinga region via Northlands spectacular harbours, such as the Whangaroa Harbour and the Rangaunu Harbour. We also pass across some beautiful beaches such as Coopers Beach, Doubtless Bay and of course the famous Ninety Mile Beach. Once on the ground you will take part on a guided tour of the area and a small pick nick lunch on either the 90 mile beach, or the Great Exhibition Bay areas. Both are great – the Great Exhibition Bay. This area is very remote and without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand with it's pure white silica sand and crystal clear water. The return flight to the Bay of Islands includes some of the most spectacular coastal scenery Northland has to offer. Day 4: Bay of Islands – Domestic Flight- Rotorua/Lake Taupo
You will be transferred from your accommodation to the Domestic Airport in Keri Keri to board a flight back to Auckland and a connecting flight to Rotorua/Lake Taupo. In the afternoon you can relax in the tranquil settings of your luxury lodge style accommodation. There are many activities to participate in from walking treks to adventure activities like Sky diving. Or we highly recommend: Private charter boat/ fishing trip on the nearby Lakes. A boat can take you to the many isolated coves and bays fringing the edges of the lakes. Here you can fish for Rainbow trout, swim and picnic near the beautiful crystal-clear water. The area is home to some of the finest Rainbow and Brown trout in the world. The challenge of landing one can be met with the assistance of your own fishing guide. Day 5: Lake Taupo/Rotorua – ½ Day trip to Volcanic White Island (helicopter landing in crater and private guided tour in Maori village)
In the afternoon we have arranged a helicopter flight and landing on an active volcanic island called White Island. Located 50 kilometres offshore, this active island volcano constantly emits a cloud of steam and periodically erupts to a greater extent expelling volcanic ash several thousand metres into the atmosphere. The main vent is below sea level and protected by crater walls. You can walk inside its main crater just above sea level with a minimum of physical effort and without undue risk. This allows you to experience at first hand nature's immense power as gas and steam burst up from far below the earth's crust. Set amidst a landscape of erupting geothermal activity, hot thermal springs and hot bubbling mud pools is the Living Maori village of Whakarewarewa situated in Rotorua, the heart of the North Island. Discover our unique lifestyle and traditions. Join a guided tour and see the wonders of Mother Nature and learn how we have come to live in harmony within this unique environment. This takes you on a Māori bush journey back through the ages, as you learn about the land, the history and significance of Māori Kai (food). The day also culminates in a delicious Hangi feast using authentic Māori gathering techniques and cooking methods in this great outdoor wilderness. Take the opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna, how the Māori utalised it and how they lived from the land and what Nature provided. Day 6: Rotorua/Lake Taupo – Flight to the South Island-Christchurch (Private city tour)
In the morning a driver will transfer you to Rotorua airport for your connecting flight to the South Island. You will arrive in Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island, after midday. A personal, private guide will take you on a Christchurch City tour. Here you will have the opportunity to spend some time is this very English- influenced city with its old Cathedral and the Victorian stone buildings. Walk the inner city feathering many shops and get that one special present for your friends and family, enjoy lunch at some of the local restaurants and bars, visit the Arts Centre and take a relaxing walk through the Botanical Gardens. Day 7: Christchurch – Day trip to Akaroa Peninsula
We drive you through Canterbury to the historic French colonial village of Akaroa; only 90 minutes drive from Christchurch. The township is settled around a dormant crater and natural harbour. The French explorers who sailed to Akaroa in 1840 left some indelible imprints throughout township. Enjoy a gourmet lunch at the French farm and taste some of the local wines. There are numerous ways to get you up-close and personal with wildlife. You can experience the rare Hector Dolphins, fur seals and cormorant colonies and might have a chance to spot the world smallest 'Blue Penguin' on a majestic harbour cruise. Or sail around the shores of this beautiful coats line. Day 8: Christchurch – Mt Cook-Lake Wanaka (Private, driver/- guide, high country scenery)
Your personal driver/guide will pick you up from your accommodation. Today you will head south across the Canterbury Plains, and pass through the picturesque town of Geraldine. Make sure you make a photo stop at Lake Tekapo, a beautiful, turquoise- coloured lake. Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd on the shores of the lake. This is one of the most photographed churches in the world made of stone and sand from around the lake. You are now in the Mackenzie Country and the scenery is fantastic as you drive to Lake Pukaki and look towards the Southern Alps and Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain. Leave New Zealand’s highest mountain behind today as you drive pass Lake Pukaki, and we can view “The Lord of the Rings” misty mountains and also the Pelennor Fields and cross one of New Zealand’s best-kept secrets, the Lindis Pass. You will arrive at the alpine town of Wanaka in the evening. (This is a long drive, but we can add an additional night at Mt Cook village!)

(Optional and for an additional charge, please enquire) The flight of a lifetime, called the 'Grand Traverse', is a spectacular scenic flight-seeing experience allowing you to explore the Mount Cook and Westland National Parks Beautiful turquoise glacial lakes, golden tussock lands and braided river systems of the Mackenzie basin. Glide high over remote High Country Sheep Stations, glacial valleys and landforms of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park – a magical world of permanent ice and snow. Day 9: Lake Wanaka – (Helicopter flight over West coast, Mt Asiring and Glaciersand private high-country sheep/deer farm tour)
A high altitude alpine flight and landing that explores Mt Aspiring, the glaciers and the National Park. Fly over the pristine clear blue waters of Lake Wanaka, past islands that are remnants of the last glacial period over 25000 years ago, to make a landing amongst the impressive mountain grandeur near Mt. Aspiring. We then fly on to see close up, cascading cliffs of compressed blue ice, deep crevasses, hanging steep glaciers and long winding ones up to 10 km long, water falls, sheer rock faces, and native forest. Grand circling Mt. Aspiring allows you to see as far as the West Coast and the Tasman Sea and so much more unspoilt nature and glacial wonders that it will be difficult to take it all in. In the afternoon your personal guide will take you on a private tour of Glendene Station, a high country sheep farm with stunning views onto the shores of Lake Hawea. Day 10: Lake Wanaka – Central Otago - Te Anau/Fiordland National Park (Private Wine tour/tasting in Central Otago Region)
A personal driver/guide will meet you at your accommodation and take you on a day tour. Central Otago is New Zealand’s fastest-growing wine region and also it’s most scenic. Take the time to explore these incredible vineyards set in small micro-climates in a landscape dominated by high snow-capped mountains, and tussock clad slopes. Travel to Cromwell and Bannockburn, the heart of Pinot Noir country, and depending on your personal tastes, we will guide you to a selection of boutique wineries. At some stage of the wine tour we will suggest a stop for a relaxing lunch at one of the wineries. Visit the surrounding areas of Arthur's Point it's, and then its on to Coronet Peak for more spectacular views of Queenstown. Your next stop is in Arrowtown, a historic colonial village that takes you back to the Gold Mining days of the Otago region. From there the journey takes you passed the eastern shores of Lake Wakatipu to Lake Te Anau. Here you will be visiting one of the most dramatic and beautiful parts of New Zealand. The extraordinary scenic beauty has earned this region a reputation as a significant sightseeing and walking destination, and a 'Must See' for anyone travelling to New Zealand. Day 11: Te Anau – Fiordland National Park (Helicopter flight and lunch in remote area)
Experience scenery on an epic scale in Fiordland National Park, New Zealand's very own land of sheer granite mountains, with spectacular fiords reaching ever inland. A premier experience! You will journey south over Lake Manapouri and across the Main Divide to the remote southern fiords. Over-fly the small, scattered islands that are unique to Dusky Sound, before heading north to Doubtful Sound. Take a spectacular journey past hidden alpine lakes, cascading waterfalls and lush native forest to Doubtful Sound. In the heart of the Fiordland National Park we have found a pristine spot hidden from the rest of the world, for you to enjoy a wilderness landing. After one hour you will be heading further north to view two more sounds and returning via the South Arm of Lake Te Anau. (very weather dependent).
Or we take you by car to the spectacular Milford Sound, described by Rudyard Kipling as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’, which was carved out during successive ice ages and, plunges to a depth of 265 meters at its deepest point off Mitre Peak. The awesome splendour of this region is unsurpassed anywhere else in the world, a daring claim in a country which offers extraordinary beauty around every corner. Day 12: Te Anau – Queenstown
Your driver/guide will collect you from your lodge and take you to Queenstown. Queenstown is the top adventure and activity centre in New Zealand. Most of ‘The cast of the Lord of the Rings’, were based here and major parts of the movie were filmed in this region. As there are so many things to do in Queenstown, and in order to cater to your diverse interests, we have left the afternoon free for you to choose whatever optional activities you desire. Your guide can arrange and advise you on all the options available, weather you are a thrill-seeker and want to go skydiving or weather you would just like to enjoy the beautiful, local walking treks.
