Day 1: Auckland arrival-Ferry to Waiheke Island (White sand beaches, wineries and local sea food)
You will be met on arrival at Auckland International Airport by your Aroha NZ Tours Representative, and transferred to your accommodation in our luxurious vehicle. Begin your tour in Auckland, a city of harbours, islands, beaches and volcanic hills. Enjoy an excursion to nearby Waiheke Island, renowned for its beautiful landscapes, excellent vineyards and fine restaurants. With tastings at our best boutique wineries, the secrets of Waiheke's stunning world-wide success in fine red wines will be revealed to the interested visitor. Take a private wine tasting tour to the most respected wine-yards of the area. You'll come away with a deep appreciation of the vintner's art and an understanding of the territory, the weather and the tides of tradition which make up this art. Day 2: Waiheke Island
Enjoy your first relaxing day in “Aotearoa” New Zealand. At the lodge itself you can take a stroll along our own bush walk down to the bay or just laze on your private patio. You can take a dip in the Jacuzzi or treat yourself to a massage, beauty therapy, or homeopathy from our in-house therapist. Day 3: Auckland – Waitomo Caves - Lake Taupo (Glow-worm caves) with private driver - driving distance 4h
In the morning, we travel south through the lush green rural farm land of the Waikato region, the rich and fertile pastoral land of the Waikato is one of New Zealand’s major dairy producing and horse breeding areas, and host to incalculable stands of exotic timber. One of the major attractions of the Waikato region is the famous Waitomo Caves (translation: "where the water disappears into a hole in the ground"). The caves are perhaps one of the finest natural attractions in the country, with their vast unique caverns and eerie stalactite and stalagmite formations home to the thousands and thousands of constellations of glow-worms.
Highly recommended (Optional and extra charge, instead of Waitomo Caves): In the afternoon we can arranged a helicopter flight and landing on an active volcano “White Island (optional and extra charge). Situated 50 kilometres offshore, this active island volcano constantly emits a cloud of steam and periodically erupts to a greater extent expelling volcanic ash several thousand metres into the atmosphere. (This is the most active volcano in New Zealand) The main vent is below sea level and protected by crater walls. You can walk right inside its main crater just above sea level with a minimum of physical effort and without undue risk. This allows you to experience at first hand nature's immense power as gas and steam burst up from far below the Earth's crust. An adventure tour you will not forget for a long time. Day 4: Lake Taupo (Day trip to the Kaimanawa Range, Cultural experience) with private guide-driving distance 3h return
This takes you on a Māori bush journey back through the ages, as you learn about the land, the history and significance of Māori Kai (food).The day culminates in a delicious Hangi feast using authentic Māori gathering techniques and cooking methods in this great outdoor wilderness. Incorporating elements of the Native Bush and the Native Kitchen experiences. Your personal guide Tom will share traditional knowledge, legends and stories as the day unfolds.From Tamau Pa you have exclusive access to a magnificent native wilderness. This wilderness has remained unchanged for thousands of years. With unspoilt views and breath-taking natural beauty you can explore the tranquil sub-alpine homeland of the Tuwharetoa Iwi (tribe). Take the opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna, how the Māori utalised it and how they lived from the land and what Nature provided. The area was used as a trading route for centuries before the Europeans arrived as tribes traded seafood and valuable rocks used to make tools and weapons. Discover the region’s significance to its Ngati Tuwharetoa kaitiaki (tribal caretakers) as you walk the land and learn about the legends and history. Day 5: Lake Taupo (Private charter boat /cruise on Lake)
Late morning take a private charter trip on the nearby Lake in Taupo. A luxury vessel can take you to the many isolated coves and bays fringing the edges of the great lakes. Here you can fish for Rainbow trout, swim and picnic near the beautiful crystal-clear water. The area is home to some of the finest Rainbow and Brown trout in the world. The challenge of catching one can be met with the assistance of your own fishing guide. There are many other activities to participate in from walking treks to adventure activities like Sky diving. Day 6: Taupo – domestic flight to Wellington – Pallister Bay (city tour) with private guide-driving distance 2h
You will be picked up from your accommodation to be taken to the domestic Airport in Rotorua to take a flight to Wellington. Arrive in Wellington, the political and cultural capital of New Zealand and one of its most attractive and interesting cities. Enjoy a private tour of the city’s highlights or spend your time strolling around the many shops and galleries the city has to offer. Climb aboard the famous Wellington Cable Car which takes you up the steep terraced divide to the luxuriant Botanic Gardens which allows you a spectacular 360 degree view of Wellington city. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Palliser Bay, where you can spend several days at a sprawling seaside estate located on a secluded 5,000-acre sheep station. Day 7: Palliser Bay (Private wine tasting tour and 4wd sheep station tour)
No visit to Wharekauhau is complete without a tour of this classic Romney sheep station. Explore the far reaches of Wharekauhau Country Estate in four-wheel drive comfort. Our farm tour features all the activities which make up New Zealand’s legendary farming heritage, including sheep shearing and sheep dogs in action. The farming township of Martinborough, boasting 29 boutique wineries, is an easy drive from Wharekauhau. Spend the afternoon sampling world famous Pinot Noir with your personal driver/guide. The Martinborough wine growing region is internationally acclaimed, with its Pinot Noirs scooping international awards ahead of French Grand Cru burgundies. Martinborough’s wineries offer wine tasting and the opportunity to purchase sought after wines direct from the vineyard. Day 8: Wellington - domestic flight to Christchurch – Arthur Pass (High Country Alpine Lodge) driving distance 1,5h
By morning your personal driver will pick you up from lodge accommodation and take to your domestic flight in Wellington. On arrival at Christchurch airport your driver will drive you ithrough the mountains to Arthur Pass. Relax or be more active as there are plenty of activities the Lodge has to offer. Go fishing, horse riding, hiking or play tennis. More leisurely activities at Grasmere include resting by the pool, being pampered in the spa, or picnicking under a willow tree by one of our nearby lakes. Day 9 Arthur Pass (Tour though West Coast Rainforest) privet guide
Today you take a personal guided tour that takes you west over the precipice of Arthur’s pass into rainforest country. Take a short walk in an ancient forest reserve containing native birds such as Kereru, Tui and Bellbird, and inspect tiny orchids and massive thousand year old Rimu trees. Pass by historic gold-mining areas and the real Wild West saloon of Jackson’s Tavern, built in 1870. We stop for lunch there, or continue, to picnic on the shores of Lake Brunner. Here you can Kayak or fish for trout. A popular extension to this trip is to visit the beautiful coastal scenery at Punakaiki in Paparoa National Park. Day 10 Arthur Pass - Christchurch airport - domestic flight to Queenstown
Take a domestic flight to Central Otago. Continue to Queenstown by air, an upscale resort town in the South Island, surrounded by the majestic Southern Alps. Queenstown is the top adventure and activity centre iof New Zealand. Most of the cast for Lord of the Rings was based here and major movie parts were filmed in this region. The afternoon is free to enjoy this stunning location.

Day 11: Queenstown (Jet-boat trip into Skippers Canon)
In the morning we have organised to take you to Queenstown’s greatest jet boat adventure. (3h-30min jetboat) This is a Jet boat trip like no other! Recognized as one of Queenstown’s best value products for a good reason, this is an adrenaline rush from the moment you leave town. Tour into Skippers Canyon, along the sheer canyon walls, on the 'road to riches' carved from the rock walls and sheer cliffs by miners over 120 years ago. And that’s just getting to the boat! A Jet boat created to excite and thrill you as you race through the Shotover River Canyons at speed of 80km/hr. Sit back, hold on, and try to relax as our experienced boat drivers navigate the sheer canyon walls along the Shotover River as well as the mining dredges and sheet piles left by the miners through Skippers Canyon over a century ago. With skill and speed you will negotiate the narrow river channel, skimming over shallow 6 inch deep river beds, when suddenly you are going sideways, backwards, sideways and back facing the way you were going, WOW, that’s a Hamilton spin! 360 degree spin, as the boat turns in its own length! Day 12: Queenstown (Wine-tour, Fiordland National Park) with a private guide
Central Otago is New Zealand’s fastest growing wine region and also it’s most scenic. Take the time to explore these incredible vineyards set in small micro-climates in a landscape dominated by high snow-capped mountains, and tussock clad slopes. Travel to Cromwell and Bannockburn, the heart of Pinot Noir country, and depending on your personal tastes, we will guide you to a selection of boutique wineries. At some stage of the wine tour we suggest a stop for relaxing lunch at one of the wineries. Visit the surrounding areas to Arthur's Point it's on to Coronet Peak for more spectacular views of Queenstown, to your next stop in Arrowtown, a historic colonial village that takes you back into the Gold Mining days of the Otago region. Day 13: Te Anau (Flight/cruise Milford Sound Fiordland National Park)
You taking a flight/cruise excursion into the Milford Sound. (5h)You are heading for the spectacular Milford Sound, described by Rudyard Kipling as the ‘eighth wonder of the world” which was carved out during successive ice ages and, at its deepest point off Mitre Peak, plunges to a depth of 265 meters. The awesome splendour of this region is unsurpassed anywhere else in the World, a daring claim in a country which offers extraordinary beauty around every corner. Fly from Queenstown to magnificent Milford Sound and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountains, lakes and fiords of the Fiordland National Park. At Milford Sound your launch cruise travels the full length of Milford Sound. Return to Wanaka via the famous Sutherland Falls and glaciers of the Fiordland National Park. Day 14: Queenstown departure
